So you’ve made it. Welcome to Tomorrow People. We’re excited to have you here – and not just to make up the numbers on the footie team and the pub quiz…
Argh. First day nerves! Help.
This isn’t an ‘employee handbook’ – we all know they suck. But rather than throwing you in at the deep end without a paddle (or something like that), we’ve detailed our onboarding process so you can safely make your way through the first 90 days at TP.
This is written by current employees, for future employees. We’re a busy bunch, but never unapproachable. When you get here, ask questions. As many as you can. We'll see you at the bar after successfully putting in your first day. The first round’s on us.
/ TP /
Friday beers, break-out areas and MacBooks don’t make up the culture. You do.
We know first days can be crazy. Someone’s showing you the ropes, they’ve been talking for hours, and nothing makes sense. We hear ya…

NEED TO KNOW.
It’s a bit of a necessary evil, but you’ll find the TP Staff Handbook here. It’s not all guidelines and rules, promise.
A brief history of, er, TP time...
We were founded in 2011 by two partners. Since then, we’ve grown into an ambitious agency on the cutting-edge of modern digital marketing. While our offices are in Birmingham and London, our clients are around the world. From the UK to the USA, Norway to Germany, France to Greece, you’ll see our work all over the place.
Company Values /
Our culture is fast-paced, innovative, and brave. Our clients share these values. And you’re here because we saw those values in you.
WE ARE BRAVE.
Respecting tradition, but pushing boundaries.
WE ARE 21ST CENTURY PUBLISHERS.
Delivering content to people how and when they want it.
WE ARE LEADERS IN MODERN MARKETING.
Using our international industry know-how and experience.
WE ARE EAGER TO SHARE AND LEARN.
Collaborating is key to our success.
WE LIKE SIMPLICITY.
Humans talking to humans, remember.
WE ARE INNOVATIVE.
Of course we’re ideas people, why wouldn’t we be?
WE MOVE QUICKLY.
A fast-paced nature fuels our creativity.
WE WORK TOGETHER.
We’re not cheerleaders, we roll our sleeves up and get stuck in.
WE ARE HAPPY AND HUMBLE.
This one’s important, right? Our people love what they do.
First things first, there’s no fluff here. Not one bit. But there is a structure, well sort of – we like to mix it up, so a few people belong to a few areas.
Operations & Management /
The machine needs to be oiled. This lot do that so the business runs, you get paid, and you have a manager to support your career aspirations at TP.
The design. The UX. The ideas. Illustrating, animating, producing, sometimes yelling at InDesign. That’s these guys.
The wordsmiths. They love coffee, Countdown, and the serial comma. Okay, maybe not them all. But they’ll spot a double space and a spelling error a mile away.
Digital Marketing /
These guys will be the ones with their heads in Eloqua, Hubspot, Marketo. They’ll be researching, digging out stats, analysing campaigns, telling us how to improve those campaigns, and building media plans.
Development & Technology /
A desk covered in 10 Starbucks coffee cups, an empty pizza box, a screen that makes no sense to anyone else… These guys are the ones building and coding all day (and probably all night).
Project and Account Managers /
This team will be talking to the clients, setting the project timelines, making sure the milestones are met and running plans three years in advance. They’re the super organised ones making everything tick.
Client & Project Onboarding /
We grow. And quickly. So our client onboarding has to be as slick as James Dean’s quiff.
Persona Workshop /
The first stage of onboarding is a persona workshop. This session gives full and clear understanding of the client’s target personas and their business pains. We'll also spend some time clarifying brand values and USPs, reviewing the industry landscape, and defining the buying journey.
Content Strategy /
At this stage, we’ll present and review the persona and market research, brand messaging and narrative framework that will form the overarching content strategy for the campaign or programme. Following this session, titles, briefs and proposals for individual content assets will start to be developed.
Engagement Strategy /
Now it’s time to review the distribution and promotional strategy that will support the programme across earned, owned, and paid media. We'll also spend time discussing marketing automation, including workflows and lead scoring, as well as initial performance projections.
Sales Enablement /
The sales enablement workshops are run as three one hour sessions at key stages of the project. The objective of these sessions is to educate the sales team on the content and engagement strategy, define the sales process, and ensure there is a clear alignment between the sales and marketing function.
Just like this onboarding page is a work in progress, so is our agency. We’re not perfect. There’s just no such thing, but what we are doing is learning to get better every day. We’ll always improve. When we stop improving, we stop doing.
Our HR department is here to help you improve, to help you grow, and to help you with those day-to-day questions you may have about illness, working from home, holidays… you know the score. Remember, there’s no such thing as a stupid question.
The last thing we want is you sat at a desk, in the dark, shackled by the chains of an outdated, clunky desktop PC. Nope. We’ll give you a new laptop computer so you’re up and about, sometimes hot-desking, working anywhere you’re needed. The kitchen. The train. One of our satellite offices. A break-out area. All we ask is that you treat the tech as if it were your own.
You’ll get a shiny new laptop computer on your first day. Take care of her. If she’s ill, you can contact our IT help desk through Google Hangouts here.
Wi-Fi passwords will be given to you on your first day. Hook up your phone, your computer, your tablet. Whatever you’ve got, get yourself connected.
TOOLS OF THE TRADE.
Workfront login, HubSpot deets, computer passwords, door fob; they’ll all be waiting for you on your first day. But remember to change those passwords.
Jargon? Gone. Wise words, huh? /
We’re a sucker for a good acronym. From TOFU, MOFU and BOFU to MQL, SQL and SAL, get to grips with our jargon buster (AKA, TP words of wisdom).
Top of the funnel content. Think articles, infographics, slideshares. This content is designed to attract a large audience, and educate them on a specific pain point or question.
Middle of the funnel content. The objective of MOFU content is to educate leads that are not yet fully qualified.
Bottom of the funnel content. This is copy to go in for the sale and engage a lead in one-on-one dialogue offering discounts, consultations or other services.
An in-depth piece of content that is essential for capturing data at the point of download. It’ll be targeting a prospect looking for a solution to their pain.

getting to know.
We work with aspirational companies that strive for growth – and you’ll feel the same. We’re constantly evolving. And we want you to evolve with us.
COMPANY CULTURE /
At TP, we foster a culture that’s humble yet confident, fun yet challenging, and one that’s fuelled by brave ideas and teamwork. Most importantly, it’s a culture created by you. The best creatives in the industry, building inspiring content that helps connect B2B brands all over the world.
Don't take our word for it, Hear what the team has to say.
We’re all foodies, and there’s nothing better than a lunch outing on us. We encourage teams to go out and eat together once a month. When that happens, we’ll pick up the tab. Some of our best ideas have come about while eating Nando’s in town, having a pizza at the airport, or a takeaway at 7pm in the office. It’s probably worth pointing out we have free-food Tuesday (enough treats to last the rest of the week), so fill yer boots.
So social /
Food aside, we’ve got a pretty good social life over here. We have regular company outings. It could be a workshop around a particular company value (usually accompanied by dinner and drinks afterwards), a pub quiz (those on the winning team will get an extra holiday day!), or go-karting (get ready to get competitive). Most importantly, we’re all friends here.
what do you know.
At the end of three months, your line manager will arrange a review to see how well you fit into TP and how you’ve progressed in your first 90 days. We picked you for a reason, so there’s not doubt you’ll pass your probation with flying colours.
What are we looking for? Ideas. It’s always ideas. You’ve aced your first three months, passed probation, you’re on the bonus scheme, but how are you going to develop from a great employee to a super employee? That’s what we’ll work on over the next nine months.
We’re an agency in the service industry, and that means we have to smash all client expectations – and then some. If we do that, our current customers tell their friends, and they become our customers. Word of mouth and referrals aren’t just what we do for our customers, but it’s what our customers do for us.
But we can’t do that without the best people in the world. That’s where you come in. That’s why we work our butts off to make you the best you can be.
When you’re the best you can be, we’re the best we can be.
Fab. You made it. Awesome stuff awaits.
Thanks for reading this page. It’s a work in progress. You’ll see it update from time-to-time so stick it in your bookmarks and use it when you need a link, some inspiration, or want to suggest any additions.
You’re fully part of the TP family now, and we can’t wait to get going.
Be inquisitive, be brave, be adventurous. Let us help you make the best of your career.
